I had the pleasure earlier this week visiting a friend at her companies showroom. Some of you may know Knoll, the world famous maker of chairs and office systems. Their products are absolutely gorgeous, and if you are lucky enough to be using a Knoll chair, or working in an office that uses their products, you know very well the importance good design.
I count myself one of the lucky ones, as I sit in a Knoll Life chairs all day. My back has never been happier. While a top level, designer chair may not be attainable for everyone, I do believe that everyone is entitled to sit in a chair that incorporates some basic ergonomic attributes.
A few weeks back we launched the new SewErgo task chair that offers some great features, at a remarkably affordable price. At $99, I think a major price barrier has been removed. There really is no reason to be sitting in a poorly made, badly designed chair all day. The SewErgo is within everyone’s reach.
With apologies to readers who’ve been checking our blog, (since July 21st) waiting for a new postings. Well better late then never right?
The truth is that my absence has been equal part work overload (thankfully, Art is back today) and part hesitation as to what to do with this whole blog thing. I have to admit I haven’t quite figured out what approach this blog should be taking. But for the time being, I’m going to trust my instincts and just forge ahead with some straight news, and whatever else pops into my head.
So without further ado, it’s time to get back to posting.
Last month we launched the new Digital Velocity V100 compact vapor generator iron. Like any new product, you do the work, sit back, and hope that you’ve gotten someone’s attention. We had so much anticipation for the new V100, (particularly amongst quilters and sewers) so when it finally arrived and started to sell like hot cakes, well to say the least, we were very, very happy (kinda like a proud parent).

New IronMaven J420 Ironing Station

If you run a drapery workroom, you know how much of a challenge sewing tacks can be. With thicknesses ranging up to 3/4″ thick, most machines are simply not designed for this type of task.
This is why we are so pleased to introduce the new MSK-373N/DTACK drapery tacker. Our engineers have reconfigured our standard MSK-373N chainstitch machine to sew the real life, everyday types of thicknesses that workrooms use.
We marry the new MSK-373N/DTACK with our Sewquiet 4000 DC servomotor. After all, when you’ve got the best drapery tacker in the industry, you want to have the best DC servomotor driving it as well.
New Ironing Board Accessories
For years now we’ve been asked why we didn’t offer a sleeve board for our popular C81 and C88 home/professional active ironing boards. So when we finally got around to designing one, we figured we would go one step further and add an optional bottle holder for all those customers that insist on using a gravity feed iron (why you would want to use a gravity iron over a steam boiler system is still beyond me, but I digress).
So now we have 3 terrific options. The sleeve board and bracket (#C8SH), the bottle holder and bracket (#C8BH), and one that includes both accessories (#C8SBH). I really love what we’ve done with the sleeve board. It was very important to design a sleeve board that would be convenient to use, and move away when not required (plus we’ve used a terrific quality cover/pad set). The combination makes great sense as well for gravity iron owners. When you compare the package with our competition, ours is priced hundreds of dollars less, and provides in my opinion, a superior product. Plus we have cETLus approval on both our C81 and C88 active ironing boards.
New UberLight 8000 Series LED Task Lights
Wow, what a busy week so far. Yesterday I write my first blog ever. Then later in the day we launch our new website. Today, I get to talk about something that we’ve been working on here at Reliable for the last 18 months, our new ÜberLight 8000 series LED task lights.
We first came up with the idea of creating an LED light well over 2 years ago. It seemed the logical next step in the evolution of our ÜberLight series of lights. We thought a couple of months of tooling, and we’d be off to the races. Boy were we wrong. The project was much more complicated than we originally expected.
The main obstacle was developing the fixture head. We used our 7000 series lights as a template, but we quickly realized that what makes a good halogen light does not necessarily make a good LED light. LED’s are so much more powerful. We use 28 bulbs in our fixture head. It took many months, and many tries to get them into the correct position, with the right balance of brightness and direction.
A year and a half later, I’m pleased to announce that we’ve produced a series of task lights that are absolutely wonderful to use. LED’s are so exciting to work with. The energy savings alone guarantees these lights are a sure investment for anyone who requires a quality task light. The life of these bulbs is simply amazing… up to 60,000 hours!
I just wish that someone would offer this technology of lights as replacements for our halogen ceiling lights at home. I’m really getting tired of changing those suckers.
