Two exceptional Menswear shops in Toronto Ontario have taken to heart the Reliable “buy well, and look after it well”, approach to wardrobe selection and care.
Barbuti and Ted’s Style Shoppe are not only serving their clientele with a remarkable selection of exquisite clothing and accessories, they are adding a dose of quality Reliable garment care to their retail mix. Both retailers have dedicated display space in their stores to wardrobe maintenance.
With Steam Generator irons, Pant Presses, Garment steamers among other helpful items, those shopping for the holidays at these fine stores will also learn about the value of quality care for their purchases. Both retailers are also providing shoppers with the opportunity to purchase Reliable products at the same time as they pick up a beautifully tailored suit. Now that’s a good match.
We were not physically at the Houston Quilt Festival but we were there in spirit and with our Velocity irons supporting the One Million Pillowcase Challenge booth put together by American Patchwork & Quilting. Volunteers made 1,027 pillowcases to donate to Houston Children’s Charity! Way to go everyone! If you haven’t already done so, now is a good time to pull together a local group of sewing friends to make some pillowcases for the holidays. Donate them to a local charity and put a smile of comfort on someone’s face. Be sure to record how many you make on the One Million Pillowcase Challenge website to help reach the goal. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases/

I am delighted to share some exciting news! O The Oprah Magazine - selected our new Velocity V50 iron to be part of the esteemed O List - Makeover Edition. The Velocity is featured on page 92 of the September 2010 issue as one of several select items that Oprah and her team think are - better than ever! O Magazine has a paid circulation of 2.4 million readers monthly! The Velocity V50 is just one of several new products launching over the next couple of months. I’m looking forward to the continued momentum and to sharing more about clothing care, and steam cleaning.
For those of you who are readers of Threads, Sew News, Vogue Patterns and many other sewing publications, you know that Cecelia Podolak is amongst other talents, a genuine “pressing expert”. One of the few people that can actually claim this title.
A few months back I called Cecelia to see if she would do a review of our new Digital Velocity V100 iron. A short time later I received in my inbox the most detailed product review a manufacturer could hope for. It is a testament to the type of person Cecelia is, that her review expands a little over four pages long!
If you are looking for a new iron, you owe it to yourself to read her analysis of this remarkable product. You can read the full review here, with thanks to Cecelia for her permission to have the article appear on this blog.
About seven or eight years ago a sewing dealer acquaintance of mine told me we shouldn’t bother introducing our own line of steam presses. “A passing fad” I think was the way he described it. Boy, am I glad I didn’t listen to him. Our Empressa steam press sales have been a bright spot in a challenging economy and they continue to increase every year.
The basic idea behind steam presses is very simple… iron, without using an iron. As time has progressed, the pressing area has increased in size, and the temperature control has become much more consistent as they’ve incorporated new technologies.
We are very pleased to present the latest, and most advanced Empressa ever, the S550.
With apologies to readers who’ve been checking our blog, (since July 21st) waiting for a new postings. Well better late then never right?
The truth is that my absence has been equal part work overload (thankfully, Art is back today) and part hesitation as to what to do with this whole blog thing. I have to admit I haven’t quite figured out what approach this blog should be taking. But for the time being, I’m going to trust my instincts and just forge ahead with some straight news, and whatever else pops into my head.
So without further ado, it’s time to get back to posting.
Last month we launched the new Digital Velocity V100 compact vapor generator iron. Like any new product, you do the work, sit back, and hope that you’ve gotten someone’s attention. We had so much anticipation for the new V100, (particularly amongst quilters and sewers) so when it finally arrived and started to sell like hot cakes, well to say the least, we were very, very happy (kinda like a proud parent).
For those of you who are curious about the new V100, please call your local dealer for a demo. If they don’t have one, implore that they buy one for their showroom. This is a very special iron, and you are going to love it. I promise.
Here’s another great “how-to” video done by Real Simple Magazine. A great watch if you have a couple of spare minutes and want to learn a few shirt ironing tricks. I’m sure I’ve seen that iron somewhere before!
